CM has good Rust Belt day (2024)

Cumming Motors went 3-1 over the weekend in the Rust Belt Baseball League, going 2-0 against East Butler on Saturday while going 1-1 on Sunday against the Butler Blue Sox in games that were all played in Juniata.

On Saturday, Cumming beat East Butler 14-4 and 5-1. In the 14-4 victory, won in six innings, Erik Rhodes had two hits and scored two runs while Cam Donaldson had three hits and four RBIs. Teammate Devon Boyles scored four runs. Cam Swogger contributed two RBIs. In the 5-1 victory, winning pitcher Kade Sell scattered six hits over four innings but did not give up an earned run. He struck out six and walked three. Reliever Caden Hody tossed two shutout innings of relief.

On Sunday, Cumming won 2-1 over Butler and lost 4-0 in the other game. In the win, Corey Chamberlain and Roman Fridley each drove in a run. Jake Hillard had two hits. Rhodes, the winning pitcher, gave up one run in five innings of work. He gave up hits, struck out five and walked four. Aaron Smearman tossed two innings of shutout ball.

LILLY — Lilly scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh on Sunday to beat Allegheny Ridge Bats, 5-4, in an Altoona Greater City League game.

Brock Porter had three hits and two RBIs to lead Lilly (5-0). The Ridge Bats (0-4) got two RBIs each from Owen Dombrosky and Owen Lane. Teammate Austin Hammerlee got the start, struck out 11, but wasn’t involved in the decision.

Investment Savings Bank picked up its first win on Saturday, beating Bellwood DelGrosso’s/Bovard, 4-3, in a Kelley Federation 15U League game at Vets Field.

Cayden Shaw had two hits, including a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to score Connor Bennett. Mikey Hofer and Luke Giossa combined to strike out 11 for ISB.
