Fantasy Baseball Pitcher Rankings: Week 11 (2024) (1)

Welcome to the FantasyPros Week 11 starting pitcher rankings. On Fridays, we view the upcoming week and rank starting pitchers based on their talent and the team they play against. These rankings are for Monday, June 3, through Sunday, June 9.

These rankings use expert consensus rankings (ECR) as a starting point. Matchup information is found on the helpful Pitcher Planner’s resource for probable pitchers.

As usual, remember that some starts are projected over a week in advance. Dates can change due to rain, injuries or anything else. Two-start week pitchers often end up as one-start weeks.

Sometimes it is best to treat a second start as a pleasant surprise rather than an expectation, especially during a rainy spring. Be sure to check the Pitcher Planner later on for more up-to-date information.

Returning readers may notice that this is the first edition without a section dedicated to top pitchers who could be on the wire. When the fantasy baseball season starts, talent is abundant on waivers. Sadly, this surplus eventually dries up. It appears we have reached that point in the year. I will bring the section back if there is a week with top pitchers who are primarily non-rostered.

Top 50 Starting Pitcher Rankings: Week 11

Best Matchups

  • Logan Webb may be back. The Giants ace has posted four consecutive quality starts after his solid season stuttered in late April and early May. To the gratitude of points league managers, Webb’s strikeouts have also increased, tokened by a season-high of eight versus the Mets. Webb has a tough matchup against the Rangers but has the momentum to perform.
  • Kyle Bradish began the season on IL with an elbow injury and struggled in some of his first 2024 outings. He appears to have shaken off the rust after tossing seven innings of no-hit ball this week, including 11 strikeouts. Bradish earned fourth place in the 2023 American League Cy Young voting for a reason. It will be exciting to see how he does in Toronto this week.
  • MacKenzie Gore has always had potential. It looks to be finally coming together. In 58.2 innings, the Washington pitcher has 72 strikeouts. A recent 10-strikeout performance against the Braves highlights this jaw-dropping number. A 2.91 ERA complements Gore’s 11 K/9. There have been some hiccups in his season, such as bad outings against Houston and Toronto, but the 25-year-old is playing at an excellent caliber overall. Gore should have a good two-start week at home versus the Mets and Braves.

Unfavorable Matchups

  • Jared Jones is not acting like the pitcher who lit the baseball world on fire earlier this year. He is human after all and has given up 11 runs (16.1 innings) in his last three starts. Two of these outings were quality starts that began to show weakness, followed by Jones’ worst outing yet on May 29 (4.1 innings, five hits, five earned runs, two walks, two strikeouts). Although Jones will readjust, fantasy managers should worry as he takes this cold streak into a two-start week versus the Dodgers and Twins.
  • Bailey Ober probably hates the Royals. The 6-foot-9 giant has forfeited 14 runs to them in two starts this year. Luckily, Ober has performed much better against opponents not based in Kansas City. Although the big righty has a chance to return to form in a two-start week after imploding on May 29, cautious fantasy managers should perhaps bench him as he lines up to face the red-hot Yankees.
  • Taj Bradley can miss bats. He is a young pitcher with the upside to be one of the best one day. However, we live in the present, and Bradley has been hot and cold throughout his short career. There is no telling what the box score will look like after Bradley faces the Orioles, but fantasy managers can at least expect strikeouts.
  • Reynaldo Lopez carries a 1.75 ERA into the end of May. It’s ridiculous. His lack of wins and strikeouts may be just as unbelievable. Although Lopez is on the 31-23 Atlanta Braves, only two of those wins have been attributed to him. Lopez’s 2-2 record paired with his respectable — yet not dominant — 8.2 K/9 causes him to be far less valuable than his low ERA suggests. Additionally, Lopez threw just 66.0 MLB innings in 2023. The Braves are holding the former reliever to a strict pitch count this year. These factors restrict the righty to have premium value only in leagues where ratios such as ERA and WHIP are key factors. Lopez will be demoted from these rankings if he performs poorly against the Nationals this week.

Top 50 Pitchers (6/3 – 6/9)

*Zac Gallen and Yu Darvish are excluded from this list after being pulled from their latest starts due to apparent injuries.*
