Fed-vision for Symmetrical Modelling in Smart Healthcare Systems (2024)

Dear Colleague,

Justification for the issue and how it fits in the overall theme:

Smart healthcare systems are revolutionizing the medical industry by integrating cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) to enhance patient care, streamline processes, and optimize resource utilization. Among these technologies, federated learning (Fed-Learning) has emerged as a promising approach to leverage distributed data while preserving privacy and security. In this Special Issue, we delve into the application of Fed-Vision, a variant of federated learning, for symmetrical models in smart healthcare systems.

Smart healthcare with symmetry integrates artificial intelligence (AI) to ensure equitable access and quality care for all individuals.

By harnessing AI technologies such as machine learning and data analytics, healthcare systems can optimize processes, improve diagnoses, and personalize treatment plans. These AI-driven solutions enable healthcare providers to identify and address disparities in access to care, predict healthcare needs, and allocate resources efficiently. This Special Issue sheds light on the potential of Fed-Vision for symmetrical models in smart healthcare systems. Through theoretical analyses, empirical studies, and real-world applications, the papers contribute to advancing the adoption of federated learning techniques in healthcare while ensuring privacy, security, and efficiency. As the field continues to evolve, further research and collaboration are warranted to address emerging challenges and unlock the full potential of Fed-Vision in revolutionizing healthcare delivery.

Aims and scope, plus topics of interest.

Anchored to healthcare applications, Visual Intelligence focuses on research areas that connect visual information processing with intelligence, federated learning, and the Internet of things, promoting their integration and exciting new developments. Analog VLSI circuits for the perception of visual motion are a unique reference for advanced students in electrical engineering, artificial intelligence, robotics, and computational neuroscience.

This Special Issue invites research papers/letters/ review articles from all over the globe focused on leading international research on theories, practices, and experiences in the field of smart healthcare for visual intelligence with federated learning. Through smart healthcare for visual intelligence, we aim to improve teaching and learning practices.

  • Man–machine interface design for human visual motion perception systems;
  • Gestural technology in smart healthcare;
  • Privacy-preserving symmetrical model design;

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Symmetry is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI’s English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
