This Hawaiian Hot Dog recipe is made with Bar-S Hot Dogs is seriously the best hot dog I’ve ever had!

this …

Try your hot dogs differently with Bar-S Hot Dogs this summer by trying this Hawaiian Hot Dog recipe!

If only this Hawaiian Hot Dog recipe was my first time having a hot dog because it took me forever to like hot dogs. For the longest time, I absolutely hated hot dogs. Now that I am older, I believe I know why I couldn’t stand them. Growing up you had your hot dogs one of two ways, grilled or boiled (gross). The only time you get a grilled hot dog was during the summer. The rest of the year, you would eat hot dogs boiled, which I thought was the nastiest thing ever. They even looked gross.

The longer they boiled, the wider they would split open. Just the thought of that makes my skin crawl. Now if I want a hot dog, I put them in the toaster oven and top them off with mustard. Yum! If my mom would’ve come up with this Hawaiian Hot Dog recipe, I am sure I would’ve loved these hot dogs a lot earlier in my life.

Okay, I have to tell you guys something. My husband and I often joke and kid around about how horrible our birthday parties were growing up. It seemed like everyone (at least where I was growing up) who lived in the inner city had the same type of food for their birthday parties. What was it? Boiled hot dogs and a bag of chips. I’m not talking about named brand potato chips, I’m talking a bag of potato chips that simply said “Potato Chips” on the front bag. To wash it all down we would be given juice with the aluminum foil on the opening. If you are from the “hood” you know what I am talking about.

Oh, and we can’t forget the bun that hot dogs were served on. Usually, it was a cheap hot dog’s buns that crumbled at the touch. Yea, where we grew up you only got excited about going to birthday parties for the company and a chance to play with your family and friends, not because of the food. It’s no fault of the parent. They didn’t know what they were doing. They didn’t have the creative minds on how to take a plain hot dog and turn it into something more, something better, and something magical. But I did with this Hawaiian Hot Dog Recipe.

Now if you are a parent unless your kid is a teenager you might want to hold off on making these for the kiddies. But for any other occasion, feel free to make these and enjoy them!

If you have a similar story like me and my husband then you will understand how important it is to give variety to common food like hot dogs. This Hawaiian Hot Dog recipe is absolutely amazing! In fact, I just ate two of them in one sitting! No joke. The topping is made of chopped pineapple, jalapeno cilantro, onion, bacon pieces, and a little honey. That’s the first part of this amazing Hawaiian Hot Dog recipe!

The topping on these Hawaiian Hot Dogs, are what hot dogs dreams are made of.”

It is the perfect mixture of sweet, spicy, and salty. When you top them off with your hot dog and take a bite, you will get a nice crunch from the pineapple and jalapeno and as the spice hits you, it will settle with the sweetness of the pineapple and the cilantro adds some freshness, which cleanses your palate. The second partand I don’t know if it is the best part or not, is the bun. Instead of a simple hot dog bun, I used a sweet honey bun. I highly recommend that you use those. It adds to the hot dog and gives a nice extra touch of sweetness. You will never look at hot dogs the same again.

Here is a thought, the next time you grill hot dogs ( I prefer my hot dogs grilled and not boiled) instead of providing your standard mustard and ketchup, make a hot dog bar of different topping to make eating Bar-S Hot Dogs more fun and exciting. Layout the topping for this Hawaiian Hot Dog recipe, of course, some chili, cheese, sour cream, onions, tomatoes, pickles, and relish. Layout the whole gamut and let people serve themselves. Take your grilling skills up a notch and make sure you buy Bar-S Hot Dogs when you do. They are very affordable and the perfect product to grill during the summer!
