People often wonder where it started and who started it generations of love for Optics. While my Mom is my guidance on the daily,It’s this woman right here! My Mamaw, Rebecca Way, LDO-C, ABOC, NCLEC. She even wrote a dissertation on Prism for her Masters. But didn’t publish it for family reasons. She inspires me every day to love Opticianry. She has semi retired only to be called in “When needed” because she doesn’t know when or how to give it up. (Trust me mom Cindy Sharpe , and I have tried to convince her to retire fully).I love this pic with her peers viewing the eclipse! ❤️

I’m so proud of my team, and thankful to my management peers at Riverview Walmart. We really dove deep into cross merchandising, working with Team Leads and Coaches to push Vision Center towards success! Today we:-Deconstructed, consolidated two 4-ways into one, and zoned it for the manager in that area. -Constructed a 4-way for Vision Center.-Cross Merchandised to Grocery, Electronics, Check Out, Garden Center, and Sporting Goods. I am so proud of my team, and so proud to be a part of an even bigger team of people that are happy and willing to help us on this journey! Today we closed Vision Center National Vision Inc. for the very last time. I have been in optics for 10 years and am so proud to have spent collectively 6 of those years with NVI. I started my optical career in the lab at Eyeglass World in Ocala, Florida; became the Manager of America’s Best in 2019 in Gainesville, Florida; and found my way to Vision Center in 2023 in Mesa, Arizona. In all this time I have participated in opening and resetting 6 locations in Florida and Arizona.This is my first closure. It truly feels like the end of a chapter of my life. I have met amazing people that I now have the pleasure of calling friends. There have been ups, and there have been downs. I truly, grew up, became a manager, obtained my LDO, and built a career with NVI. I look forward to the next step in my career with Walmart, but will miss seeing my fellow GM’s on our Monday call, and will truly miss my exceptional DM, Kurt Schaefer. As we celebrate the Holiday Season as National Vision Inc. staff, we can’t forget our Host GM’s at Walmart that make what we do possible! The first step in growing is achieved by doing! I was invited by Dr. Leslie Acreman to do an ABO practice test review with her students. It was so refreshing and rewarding to help a talented group of 30+ people prepare for the first step of an incredibly rewarding career! I’ve always had a passion for teaching and sharing my knowledge with others, and today, I got to do it in a formal setting! Thank you Leslie for trusting me, with your pupils!
