The price of a pint for England fans ahead of their opening Euro 2024 fixture against Serbia has been revealed.

Supporters dashing over to Germany without a ticket for the clash in Gelsenkirchen will be able to enjoy the action from a boisterous fanzone.

That will be the 40,000-capacity fanzone at the Trabrennbahn racecourse, which was built in 1912 and hosted Three Lions fans during the 2006 World Cup.

The venue will be free to attend, live music will be blasted out, and there will be plenty of drinks and grub.

Fans looking to soak themselves in a pint of Bitburger Pils beer will only have to pay £4.20 (€5) for the privilege.

Pints will be priced at £4.20 for fans at England's fanzone for their first match at Euro 2024

That could mean a rowdy shuttle bus back toGelsenkirchen central station, a journey that will be provided free of charge.

Around half a million British fans are expected to make the trek to Germany, but that could rise to 800,000. England and Scotland will compete in the 24-team tournament.

England fans have been told not to mix opposing fans and to be careful drinking. The Serbian faithful will have their own fanzone inBuer, a suburb of Gelsenkirchen.

The Foreign Office said: 'Beer can be stronger than in the UK, so drink responsibly, know your limits and respect local laws. You may not be let into the stadium if you drink too much.'

Meanwhile, any England fans addicted to fruit should gobble their healthy snacks before entering stadiums at Euro 2024 - because they're officially banned.

An apple or banana is a seemingly innocuous treat that some might be tempted to take into stadiums, but such smuggling comes with high risk.

That's because supporters who do so could be expulsed from the ground and banned from attending any subsequent matches at the tournament.

UEFA's list of prohibitions for the tournament actually prohibits fans from bringing any food or liquid into grounds, but they make a particular point about the fruity goods, writing: 'including fruit, such as apples, bananas, oranges, etc.'

However, supporters will be banned from taking fruit into stadiums and could be banned from the whole tournament for doing so

Devastatingly, fans will also be barred from taking ladders and vuvuzelas into the grounds

If anybody needs them for medical reasons, that's okay, but the stadium authorities must be notified in advance.

A standard sausage at a ground will set fans back £3.77 and if you're lucky enough to attend the final, your wallet will be complaining at an enhanced sausage tax: £4.77.

England begin their Euro 2024 campaign against Serbia on June 16 at the Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen.

They then travel to Frankfurt to take on Denmark at Waldstadion on June 20 and face Slovenia on June 25 at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne.

As well as food and drink, there are all the standard bans on items for stadiums - don't be bringing any weapons, pyrotechnics, drones, ladders, laser pointers, or political propaganda with you.

No Nazi flags, no flags supporting sides in the Israel-Hamas war, no drugs, no stools, and no suitcases.

Punishments include 'expulsion from the stadium with a report to the police or a stadium ban for the whole or part of Euro 2024.'

Disappointingly, there's also a block on vuvuzelas, so don't expect the tournament to evoke many memories of the 2010 South Africa World Cup.
